This is about the “empty nest” syndrome.

This is about the “empty nest” syndrome.  It’s a picture that I painted when I first realized that I was truly on my own and the universe, my universe indeed was going to end someday.    My kids were gone, a marriage ended, the dogs were dead or lethargic and I sat alone in an empty house.  The original is a approx 9×12 watercolor on Arches paper.

Silent Rooms/Empty Nest

Empty nest syndrome is a very real phenomena and in fact Psychology Today says: “Empty Nest Syndrome refers to feelings of depression, sadness, and/or grief experienced by parents and caregivers after children come of age and leave their childhood homes.”
